5 ways accessibleGO has got your back

1. We help you book an accessible room - and then make sure you actually have it when you arrive!

Although other booking sites list accessible rooms, people have reported receiving standard rooms when they arrived at their hotels (and the accessible room they expected had already been assigned to another guest). We ensure you can book an accessible room and that it will be waiting for you when you arrive!

2. We contact hotels to make sure bed features (height and space under the bed) will work for you.

In recent years, higher platform style beds are considered more "luxurious; however, these features can render a hotel bed inaccessible. Bed heights and open bed frames (for patient lift devices) are not regulated by the ADA. Upon request, we ask hotels to measure both bed heights and the space under the bed to ensure smooth wheelchair transfers.

3. We secure a room assignment for you that is on a low level or close to an elevator (when available).

Rooms that are on lower levels and close to elevators tend to be in high demand in hotels. For people with disabilities, it is often a high priority to ensure that they feel safe in case of an emergency. When confirming your reservation, we specifically request room assignments that fit your requests (when available at the hotel). When possible, we also contact the hotel the day of to ensure that the room was assigned to the preferred location prior to your arrival.

4. We ensure that you have access to the accessibility features that you need.

Hotel listings for accessible rooms often lack information or contain inaccurate descriptions (e.g. listing the wrong bathroom type whether it's a roll-in shower or ADA bathtub) and that means that guests may arrive and be unable to use the facilities. We will confirm the type of room you were given, ensure it has what you need (including grab bars and accurate toilet heights), and if not, help you find an alternative.

5. We confirm that your medications will be kept cold!

While many hotels have mini-fridges in the rooms by default, some don't, and this isn't always included in the hotel room description. When requested, we ensure that the hotel room you booked has a mini-fridge for your medications (whether it is a standard feature or we request a medical fridge to be brought to your room).
